About the Artist

Bob Brehmer. I have always been involved in art in some way. In high school, I was fortunate enough to have an instructor who introduced me to watercolor painting, which was his specialty. When I moved on to Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa, a new ceramic instructor had just moved into town and was to start teaching there about the same year I started my first semester. For the first part of my college experience, I took printmaking, drawing, acrylic and oil painting, and life drawing. The second semester I walked into the newly formed ceramic and sculpture room, and saw a student throwing on the potters' wheel. I sat next to him to watch this amazing process of forming a ball of clay into what would be a small bottle. I was so enthralled by this that I knew from then on this was something I had to try. The instructor came in and said,"why don't you take a class?" I signed up the next semester, and my love for clay was born. It has been a wonderful, yet sometimes humbling process. It is a long process, but the end results, when good, are worth the wait. After almost 30 years of being involved with clay, I still love it and its challenges and rewards.  I sell my work mostly at art fairs, and some from the home. Hopefully I'll be selling on-line as well. I work out of my home in Rock Island, Illinois.  I hope to bring some handmade pieces to people's homes to enjoy and hopefully grow an appreciation for all things handmade and the artists that make them.   Thanks to those who have purchased my work in the past, thanks to you who buy my work now, and thanks to all who may in the future.   Bob Brehmer
